Definition: Component that attaches to the sonde housing and creates a pilot bore

- Ballantine pilot bits are made from a premium abrasion resistant steel alloy.
- Unibody (one-piece) design for all boring bits assures maximum strength.
- A carbide matrix of Terminator®Hardfacingis applied to high wear points by a state of the art welding robot for consistency.
- Indexed pockets securely attach brazed-in carbide for extended life.
- A three-stage heat treat process after hardfacingensures durability.
