Ballantine Trencher Chain Overview

Ballantine Offers 3 Catagories of Bare Chain

Standard-Duty Chains

  • Normal OEM style chain with standardized component sizes and specifications, such as pin, bushing and roller diameters, side bar thickness’ and material specifications.

  Heavy-Duty Chains

  • Chains that are constructed with certain features that when incorporated in the assembled chain will create a stronger overall chain and extended wear life.  These chains include some, but not necessarily all of the following features.  Thicker side bars, Larger diameter round parts, Special alloy steels, Anti Back-Flex attaching links, Offset rivets or Extended side bars.

 Premium-Duty Chains

  • Chains that are engineered and constructed with all of the premium design features Ballantine offers and when incorporated in the assembled chain creates the strongest chain and longest overall wear life, which is unparalleled in the trenching industry.

Basic Conponents of a Trencher Chain

Attachment Sidebars

  • Produced from superior grade abrasion resistant alloy steel, specially hardened with various bolt patterns for attaching adapters and cutters.

Roller Link Sidebars

  • Produced from superior grade abrasion resistant alloy steel, specially hardened to provide high strength and toughness, while still providing maximum wear resistance from boom and sprocket contact.

Rivet and Connector Pins

  • Produced from superior grade abrasion and impact resistant alloy steel, specially hardened to provide the best combination of strength, toughness and wear resistance.  Also provides close positive tolerance fit for the life of the chain and superior strength.

Rollers and Bushings

  • Produced from superior grade abrasion and impact resistant alloy steel, specially hardened to provide additional wear life and greater strength.
